Connecting BILL to Digits creates a secure, direct feed of payables and receivables. This integration enables Digits to automatically import, categorize, and book transactions into the Ledger—eliminating the need for manual entry and improving accuracy across your clients’ books.
How to Connect to BILL
To connect a client’s BILL account:
- Log into the client’s dashboard.
- Click Connections in the left-hand menu.
- In the All Connections tab, locate BILL.
- Click Connect.
- Log into the client’s BILL account to generate a Sync Token. (You will need administrator privileges.)
FAQ: What is a Sync token? A Sync Token is a name and password pair used only for syncing BILL with other platforms—it can’t be used to log into your BILL or Digits account.
Here’s how to generate a Sync Token:
- In BILL, go to Settings > Sync & Integrations > Tokens.
- Click New.
3. Enter a Name for the Token. Click Save.
4. Copy the Token Name & Token Password. (⚠️⚠️⚠️Save both before leaving the page—they’re only shown once!)
5. Enter Token Name and Token Password in Digits.
6. Click Connect.
7. Once connected, Digits will begin syncing data automatically.
⚠️ Already created a Sync Token before? BILL will only show you the Token Name—not the password (see screenshot below for example). To get a new Token Password, you’ll need to create a new Sync Token (see step 1).
What Happens After Connection?
Digits will:
- Import the client’s full transaction history from BILL
- Begin syncing new bills, invoices, and payments automatically
- Use ✨ Digits AI to auto-categorize and assign parties
- Start a sync to keep the Ledger updated
Note: Import time may vary based on data volume and BILL account activity.
