Financials & Custom Reports

Whether you're running a business or managing the books yourself, Digits gives you a full picture of your finances. With clean reports, smart visuals, and flexible tools, the Financials tab helps you track performance, monitor cash flow, and stay on top of your business—no accounting degree required.


Accessing the Financials Tab

  • Go to my.digits.com and log in.
  • In the left-hand menu, click Financials.
  • You'll see your main reports: Profit & LossBalance SheetCash FlowA/R Aging, and A/P Aging.


What You'll See in Financials

Profit & Loss

Track how much you're earning and spending each month:

  • Hover over any line to see:
    • Overview: Quick summary of performance and trends
    • Year-to-Date (YTD): What you've made or spent so far this year
    • Top Customers: Who's bringing in the most revenue
    • Top Transactions: Big-ticket items for the month
  • Filter Options:
    • Use filters for Average DeltasTotals, or Monthly Deltas


Balance Sheet

Get a snapshot of what you own (assets), owe (liabilities), and what's left (equity):

  • Hover over a category to see:
    • Overview: Summary of balances and changes
    • Top Transactions: Key transactions impacting the category
  • Click View Details to see all transactions for that category
  • Use filters for Average DeltasTotals, or Monthly Deltas


Cash Flow

Understand how money is moving in and out:

  • Hover over each line for cash activity breakdowns
  • Click View Details to explore transactions by category


A/R Aging (Accounts Receivable)

See unpaid invoices from customers, grouped by how long they’ve been overdue. Great for knowing who to follow up with.

A/P Aging (Accounts Payable)

See what bills you still owe, organized by how long they’ve been unpaid. Helps you plan upcoming payments.

Creating a Custom Report

Each report is interactive, customizable, and designed for month-over-month analysis.

  1. Click on Custom Reports in the left-hand navigation menu.
  2. Click New Report in the top-right.
  3. Choose the type of report from the following options: Executive SummaryProfit & LossBalance Sheet, or Cash Flow.
  4. Set your date range at the top of the selector "Run Report for" choose Month/Quarter/Year. Click Set
  5. Upload attachments (optional) by uploading or dragging and dropping the file into the designated area.
  6. Click Run to generate your draft.
  7. Want to customize your new report further? See the next step.


Pro tip: You can also duplicate past reports to reuse formatting and layouts—a real time-saver.

Customizing Your Report

Make it look and feel the way you want.

Cover Page - Make your first impression count:

  • Edit Title: Name your report something clear.
  • Prepared By: Show who created it.
  • Custom Footer: Add a note or company info.
  • Account Numbers: Optional toggle if you want to include them.
  • Cover Image: Upload a logo or branded image.
  • Click Done when you’re finished. To change anything later, click the Gear icon at the top right.


Executive Summary - Scroll down past the cover page:

  • Your overview section:
    • Click the Add button to drop in graphs, statements, lists, or KPIs.
    • Use the Paint Roller icon to style your tiles.
    • To remove something, click the X next to it.


Report Pages

Each section (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) is flexible:

  • Add visuals and text to explain key insights
  • Format numbers your way (rounded or exact)
  • Turn on trendlines or comparisons (MoM or YoY)
  • Add monthly breakdowns, delete pages you don’t need


Profit & Loss Extras

  • Show each line item as a % of income or % of total
  • Include YTD totals to track progress


When you’re happy with it, hit Publish to save and share.

Scheduling Reports

Want reports to generate automatically each month? You can schedule them in advance.

  • From the Financials tab, click the dropdown next to New Report
  • Select Schedule Report

Options include:

  • Auto-Create Draft: Creates a draft report at the start of each month
  • Auto-Publish Draft: Shares a draft with clients for review
  • Auto-Publish Final: Sends the final report to clients on a schedule you choose 

Pro Tips for Report Text & Tiles

  • Use @ to tag specific accounts or parties within text tiles
  • Use Add Link to hyperlink to key Digits sections (like Vault, Balance Sheet, or Connections)
  • Format and style text using the toolbar: bold, italic, underline, alignment, bullet points, and colors
