Reporting in Digits

Digits offers robust reporting capabilities to help you create insightful financial reports. Here’s how you can effectively manage and generate reports. While individual financial statements are available to download directly from the Financials section, you can also create a customized financial reporting package by selecting the New Report option within the Financials section.


New Reports

  • From the Financials Tab, click on the New Report button in the top right corner of the dashboard.

  • Set your period to define the timeframe for your report.

  • Choose the statements you want to include. 

    • Executive Summary

    • Profit & Loss

    • Balance Sheet

    • Cash Flow

You will also have the option to edit these later once your report has been created.

  • Add Attachments to include any necessary documents for a complete view.

  • Click on Run.


There is also the option to create a new report based on a previously created report while in the new report window. However, you can also locate a previous report by clicking on Reports and then going to any previous month. Once the report has been located, you can click the three dot menu and select Duplicate Report. It’s important to not that attachments from the previous reports will not be copied to your new report, and you will have the option to add new attachments if needed.

  • Executive Summary
    You have the option to edit the Title of this section and edit any of the reports that you add into this section. Click on the add button to view all available widgets that you can include in the report, including a text widget if you’d like to add any specific points to the report.

    • Best Practices

      • Using an “@” symbol allows you to tag a specific account or party

      • Using the “Add Link” feature allows you to hyperlink to a specific section within Digits such as connections, vault, balance sheet, etc.

  • Formatting Options for Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow

    • Number Formats:

      • Rounded values or decimals.

    • Display Options

      • Show Trendline: Visualize account trends over 3, 6, or 12 months.

      • Monthly Breakdown: Compare previous months using values or percent deltas.

      • Month over Month: Compare current and last periods in numbers or percent deltas.

      • Show Percentage of Income: Display income contribution percentages or expense comparisons to total income.

      • Show Percentage of Total: Highlight contributions to total income or expenses.

      • Year over Year: Compare current periods with last year in numbers or percent deltas.

      • Year to Date (YTD): Show cumulative values from the fiscal year's start to the current period.

  • Widgets
    You can click the Add button on any section or the + button underneath each section to include any additional reporting widgets to fully customize your report. Here is a list of available widgets that you can include:

    • Metrics:

      • Cash Flow

      • Total Cash

      • Runway

      • Net Burn

      • Gross Burn

      • Gross Income

      • Gross Profit

      • Net Income

      • Net Other Income

      • Net Operating Income

    • Statements:

      • Profit and Loss

      • Balance Sheet

      • Cash Flow

    • Lists:

      • Top Expense Categories

      • Top Vendors

      • Top Income Categories

      • Top Customers

      • Top Growing Expense Categories

      • Top Growing Income Categories

      • Top Shrinking Expense Categories

      • Top Shrinking Income Categories

      • Top Expense Transactions

      • Top Income Transactions

    • Other:

      • Insights

      • Text

      • KPI

      • File Dropzone

Report Statuses

  • Draft: Visible to you and your team of accountants. The data on this report will refresh each time that you open the report.

  • Published Draft: Visible all parties including your client that have access to Digits. Data will no longer refresh when moved to this state.

  • Finalized:  Visible all parties including your client that have access to Digits. Data will no longer refresh when moved to this state.


Scheduled Reports

From the Financials tab, click on the drop-down arrow next to New Report and select Schedule Report. Here you will get a pop-up window where you can choose the options to scheduled reports:

  • Auto-Create Draft: Digits will automatically create a draft monthly report at the start of each month for you to edit and prepare.

  • Auto-Publish Draft: A draft report will be shared with your clients for review. These reports will be sent to your clients at 9:00AM CST. You will also get the option to choose the date this is published.

  • Auto-Publish Final: Select the time of month to auto-send final monthly reports. These reports will be sent to your clients at 9:00AM CST. You will also get the option to choose the date this is published.

Please note that these templates apply only to scheduled reports.


Digits provides all the tools you need to create detailed and personalized financial reports, making your financial analysis seamless and effective.
