Digits Connections: Ramp
Connect your Ramp account to Digits for a seamless workflow — no manual entry required. Transactions sync directly into your general ledger.
Step 1: Disconnect Any Previous Integration
Note: Ramp only connects to one accounting platform at a time. If you previously used another system like Puzzle, you’ll need to disconnect it before continuing.
For detailed instructions, visit Ramp’s Migration Help Article
Confirm you have admin access in Ramp. You’ll need admin permissions to disconnect your current accounting provider.
Choose a transition date. Pick the date when you will stop using your previous system and start using Digits for your books.
Pay off any approved bills in Ramp before that date. Unpaid bills that “span” two systems can cause headaches later when you’re trying to keep your books clean. Hold off on creating new bills until the switch is complete.
Sync all card transactions dated before the transition to your old system. Wait a few days after your cutoff date so any pending charges can clear, then sync those into the old system. Anything dated after your transition date should be left unsynced so it can flow into Digits instead.
Sync all approved reimbursements to your old system up to the transition date. This keeps your old system complete through your cutoff.
Do a final close in your old system. Generate your financial reports or trial balances (a summary of your account balances) so you have a clean snapshot before moving fully to Digits.
Disconnect your existing accounting integration in Ramp. In Ramp, go to Accounting settings (you’ll need to be logged in) → scroll to Danger Zone → click Disconnect Accounting.

Back up and delete any approved but unpaid bills in Ramp. Export these bills for safekeeping, then delete them directly in Ramp. You’ll recreate them once Digits is connected, so all bill payments tie out cleanly.
Step 3: Post-Connection Cleanup in Ramp
After Ramp is connected to Digits, there are a few final steps to make sure everything syncs smoothly:
Complete your accounting setup in Ramp. Map the right A/P (Accounts Payable) and Cash accounts for cards, reimbursements, and bills.
Note: Ramp may prompt you to enter a Cash Account Name (from your GL) and a Unique Account ID. These are only used for Ramp’s CSV exports and do not affect your Digits connection. If prompted:
Enter n/a for both fields
Continue with setup — your Digits sync will not be impacted
If you need help, your Ramp account manager can guide you.
Remap your vendors, rules, and card programs. When you switch accounting systems, your old rules and mappings don’t carry over. You’ll need to:
Reassign vendors
Update any automatic rules
Re-map card programs so they line up with your Digits chart of accounts. The good news: you’ll only have to do this once.
Recreate any unpaid bills you deleted earlier. Add those bills back into Ramp and assign them to your clearing account (an account you use temporarily to hold amounts until they’re fully matched).
Post a manual journal entry in Digits to clear your suspense account. This step ties everything out so no leftover balance is hanging around in a “suspense” or “uncategorized” bucket. In Digits, create a journal entry like this:
Debit (Dr): Accounts Payable (no vendor)
Credit (Cr): Clearing Account
This moves the balance from your suspense/temporary account into the correct place.
Start fresh. At this point, you can:
Resume syncing card transactions and reimbursements from Ramp into Digits
Begin approving and paying bills as usual, with everything flowing into Digits going forward
How to Sync Ongoing Transactions from Ramp to Digits
Due to current Ramp limitations, transactions (including expenses and reimbursements) must be manually marked as Ready to Export within Ramp before Digits can sync them.
This step must be completed directly in Ramp.,
For Credit Cards, Expenses, and Reimbursements
In Ramp, go to the Accounting tab.
Find the expenses or reimbursements you want Digits to sync.
Select each one individually, or use bulk select to choose many at once.
Click Mark Ready — this moves them into the Ready to Export state so Digits can pull them in.
⚠️ Important: After a transaction is marked Ready in Ramp, you cannot edit its category there — but you can still change it later in Digits.
If You Use Ramp for Bill Pay
No manual steps required! Ramp automatically syncs bills with Digits:
When approved
Again when paid
