Digits Connections: Banks & Credit Cards via Plaid

Digits connects to 12,000+ U.S. banks and credit cards via Plaid to sync your transactions in real time and categorize them automatically.

You only need to connect your accounts once—Digits handles the rest behind the scenes.

How to Connect Your Bank

  1. Head to my.digits.com and log in.
  2. In the left-hand menu, click Connections.
  3. Go to the All Connections tab to find any unlinked accounts.
  4. Click Connect next to Banks and Cards
  5. Search for the bank and log in securely through Plaid.
  6. Select the accounts you want Digits to access.

What Happens After Connection?

Once your accounts are connected, Digits gets to work right away:

  • Imports up to 24 months of historical transaction data
  • Ingests key transaction fields:
    • Date
    • Amount
    • Description (including party info, where available)
  • Digits AI analyzes each transaction to auto-categorize and assign parties
  • Starts a frequent sync to keep everything current automatically

Can’t Connect a Bank? Use CSV Import

If your bank isn’t supported, you can upload your transactions manually.

  1. Export a CSV report from your bank
  2. Go to Ledger > All Transactions
  3. Click the dropdown next to New Transaction > Import Bank Transactions
  4. Download and fill in the CSV template
  5. Upload the file and map the fields
  6. Select the correct bank or card category and click Next

Updating Your Bank Connections in Digits
To add or update accounts, simply reconnect your bank through the Connections page and follow the prompts.

⚠️ Be careful during this step:

  • Keep all accounts checked that you want to remain connected.
  • Unchecking an account listed under My Connections will disconnect it from Digits and stop syncing data.

Automatic Statement Fetching via Plaid

Digits automatically fetches official bank statements for supported institutions via Plaid—no uploads needed. Statements are pulled directly into the Documents tab, keeping everything in one place.

Currently supported banks include:

Wells Fargo, Bank of America, U.S. Bank, Citibank Online, Navy Federal Credit Union, Regions Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Huntington Bank, Truist, Acorns, Mercury, Meow, Slash, Chariot, Parker, Klutch, Spruce, Double Finance, Mass Finance Inc., GuideStone Financial Resources, Dappr, Crew Finance, Percapita Group, Cogent Bank (Personal & Business), Atlas, Safra National Bank, American Bank (TX), and CCBank (Business & Personal).

Troubleshooting & Reconnecting Banks

If data looks stale or incomplete:

  • Reconnect the bank from the Connections page (follow the steps above)
  • Ensure all accounts meant to sync are still selected during the Plaid flow

FAQs

Does Digits support international banks?

Not yet—Digits currently supports U.S.-based bank accounts and USD only. If you’re trying to connect a non-U.S. bank or work in another currency, you won’t see those options in Digits just yet.

Does Digits have a plan for global expansion?

International support—including non-U.S. banks and non-U.S. currency functionality—is in the works. It’s a big lift, but it's on our radar as part of Digits' long-term expansion.

Why can’t I connect my treasury or investment account?

Treasury and investment accounts fall under a category that Digits doesn’t support—yet. But it’s on our roadmap!

In the meantime, you can still stay organized by uploading treasury statements to the Documents tab or tracking balances manually using a journal entry.

What should I do if I have trouble connecting a bank account via Plaid?

Some banks require multi-factor authentication (MFA or 2FA) every time you connect to an account via Plaid. This can sometimes cause connection errors or prevent Digits from maintaining a live bank feed.

If you're seeing issues:

  • Try temporarily disabling MFA/2FA in your online banking settings, then reconnect the account through Digits.
  • Use “Continue as Guest” in the Plaid flow if prompted—this avoids linking the bank feed to a personal Plaid login, which can cause issues when managing multiple client accounts.

What if I connected the wrong bank account, or want to remove one later?

You don’t need to start over. You can pause the connection, archive it, or fully delete it and add a new one—whatever fits your workflow.
