Monthly Reporting & Exports (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)

Need a month-by-month Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, or Cash Flow over a longer period? Here's how to view monthly columns, understand report limits, and export longer histories.

How to Choose the Reporting Period

Where you set the date range depends on where you’re building the report:

  • Statements: Use the period selector at the top of the page.

  • Custom Reports: Open Options and set the custom time period there.

How to Show Monthly Columns on Reports

In Financials

  1. From the left navigation, open Financials → Statements and choose the statement you want (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, or Cash Flow).

  2. Click Options above the statement to open the Statement Options panel.

  3. Toggle on Monthly Breakdown.

Optional: Add period-over-period comparisons using Delta (percent or monthly average), Month over Month (percent or delta), or Year over Year (percent or delta).

In a Custom Report

  • From the left navigation, open Financials → Custom Reports and either start a new report or open a draft report.

  • Scroll down past the cover and executive summary to the report you want to edit.

  • Click Options above the statement to open the Statement Options panel.

  • Toggle on Monthly Breakdown.

How many months can I include in one report?

The monthly reach depends on the statement:

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't I see monthly columns?

Make sure Monthly Breakdown is turned on in Statement Options, and that Drill down by is set to None — a drill-down disables the monthly view. Monthly columns are available on Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow.

Can I get a monthly view with a Custom date range?

Yes. Monthly Breakdown works with any time period, including Custom — it isn't tied to a preset range.

How do I get more than 36 months into one spreadsheet?

For reporting periods longer than a single statement supports, export your data in batches—for example, one monthly Profit & Loss per 36-month window. Download each report as an XLS file, then combine the data in Excel or Google Sheets for a complete historical view.

Why can't I see the monthly breakdown on my Profit & Loss report?

The Monthly breakdown option is available only when your report is set to a month range (such as 1, 3, 6, or 12 months). It isn't available when the date range is Year to Date.

If you don't see the monthly breakdown:

  1. Change the report's date range from Year to Date to a month range.

  2. Open Options.

  3. Turn on Monthly breakdown
