#### When deletion isn’t available

Transactions that come from Digits itself (Digits Pay) cannot be deleted. Everything else can be deleted, including synced transactions.&#x20;

### Reverse A Transaction

Some transactions can’t be deleted because they’re tied to a connected source. In those cases, you can **reverse** the transaction instead.

1. Go to **Accounting → Ledger**.
2. Find and open the transaction.
3. Click the **reverse icon** in the top-right corner.
4. Confirm the reverse action.&#x20;

### Editing Similar Transactions

When you change the **category** on a transaction, :sparkles:Digits automatically checks for other transactions that may match. If it finds any, you’ll see a **Review** prompt.

1. Click **Review** to see potential matches.
2. You can apply changes to all, some, or none.

If you open a transaction from a closed period, a message appears at the bottom of the screen

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I edit transactions from a closed period?</summary>

Yes, but you’ll need to unlock editing for that transaction to make changes. See: [Close a Month (Set or change Close Date)](/business-agentic-general-ledger/close-date.md)

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I remove old transactions from a bank connection?</summary>

You can delete individual transactions from a connected source, or you can adjust the connection's cutover date to control how far back Digits pulls data. Go to **Connections → Manage** next to the connection, update the **Cutover Date**, and save. Digits will remove transactions before that date. See: [Starting Over in Digits](/business-connections/starting-over.md)for more details.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I remove a large number of transactions from my ledger?</summary>

It depends on where those transactions came from:

**If they came from a bank connection (Plaid):** Adjust the connection's start date to control how far back Digits pulls data. In the left navigation, go to **Connections**, click **Manage** next to the connection, update the **Cutover Date** to the date you want data to start from, and save. Digits will remove transactions before that date.

**If they came from a QuickBooks migration:** There's no way to selectively remove migrated transactions. You'll need to start over and choose a later migration date.&#x20;

See: [Starting Over in Digits](/business-connections/starting-over.md)

**Note:** There is no bulk reverse option. Reversals must be done one transaction at a time.
